The snow has arrived in New York. And the honey bees are still waiting for the honey to be pulled from the hives before they can be moved. (The hive is much too heavy to move with the honey on it.)
Looking at this hive, each of the individual boxes weighs about 50 pounds, if full of honey. We took about 75 pounds of honey from this hive. Then we weigh the hive to be sure it weighs about 125 pounds to ensure that we're leaving them enough food for the winter.
