Baby, it's Hot out There!

It's been a hot one! The heat has been getting to the honey bees as well. We see them sitting outside their hives later in the day, trying to keep cool. But they're continuing to bring in pollen, which is rare in our area in mid-July. In this video, you can see the pollen on her legs in a special sac created for that purpose. Pollen is their source of protein, while nectar (honey) is used for energy. They consume and need both.
